Many of the people close to me have been experiencing great challenges at this time. They are struggling with their health, trying to achieve the success they desire, longing for a life partner or just wanting to re-invent their lives. And some are fairly content, but know that there are changes coming and thus are anxious to get started. Once again I am so aware that this journey of life is not made for us to do alone. Without a support team in place, we feel isolated, alone and, in some cases, hopeless. My intention is that we support each other this year and truly create sustainable community and a sense of ease.
As many of you know, that is why I continue to run workshops that bring people together. One of the best ways I know to create the life that you desire is to connect with other like-minded souls. You do not have to know what it is that you want, you just have to be willing to let go of what is not working and show up to experience new possibilities. This is a time when the majority of people are making New Year’s Resolutions. Yet, only 8% of people who make resolutions achieve them. Here are some simple things in my video above that you can do to be one of the 8%.
Happy Hanukkah to all my friends who celebrate this wonderful Holiday of Light. For those of you who do not know what this holiday represents, here is the short version. Whenthe Maccabees liberated Jerusalem they wanted to light the Menorah but there was only enough oil to burn for one day. By a miracle it continued to burn for 8 days, until new oil was made available. In memory of this, we light a candle for eight days and eat foods cooked in oil (e.g. potato latkes and jelly donuts). Even if you do not celebrate this holiday, I want to encourage you to light a candle for peace every day this week. And enjoy the latkes too.
As we move into this holiday season, it is hard not to feel the intensity in the air. People are moving faster and bouncing back and forth between happy excitement and total anxiety and stress. It is important not to get caught up in the collective fear. When we hear disturbing information we become tense and have a hard time communicating in a clear and focused way. It is easy to do what I call “foot in mouth disease.”
Ritual of the Week:
Do not answer your phone on the first ring or answer an email or text immediately. Instead, take a few deep breaths. This will calm your mind and regulate the stress hormones in your body. You will feel clearer, calmer and make better choices.
